Facebook has been quite known for its acquisitions and among some of the big ones it has done in the near past includes the acquisition of the domain name FB.com and also the more recently Instagram which is probably the best known photo sharing app in iOs as well as Android.
Leaving all of them apart the web company has acquired Face.com which is basically a face detection service. As the about us page of the website says about it self Face.com is :

The acquisition seems to be exciting for the team at Face.com and also say that Facebook may open up various of the opportunities for the company which will help the end users or customers.
