5 Famous Non WordPress Blogs

Yesterday I discussed about the latest version of WordPress and a lot of people are really praising it because of its lovely interface as well as the new disturbance free writing mode it has introduced. Well we also see the worlds largest blogs using this CMS as their platform, but what about them who aren’t using. Are they successful? Why not?

These are some of those blogs who are really enjoying a great place for them on the web as well as have a great reader base but don’t use WordPress. Although we always encourage the users and our readers to use WP.

1. The Huffington Post

The worlds most popular blog or news syndication website that was recently acquired by AOL Tech, always had a significant role in online media. The website uses Movable Type as its platform instead of WordPress and the reason for this is unknown. Although it is using a lot of customizations for its CMS we have always found that the website has been really user-friendly and rarely has any troubles for the users.

2. Gawker

Gawker is another website enjoying mainstream success but not using WP instead using its own custom CMS for the service. The CMS has influenced the people so much that the WordPress community introduced a theme based on the look if Gawker. The software used by them is better known as the Gawker Bespoke software.

3. Read Write Web

RWW is a premier website for knowing whats really happening in the world of technology or internet with new stories coming up every time. the website always has a .php extension with its pages and uses Movable Type as a platform for publication of its posts and pages. The website is also known for using Google Docs sometimes for publication of its pages a lot of times.

4. Engadget

The gadget blog which has regular updates for tech freak also doesn;t use WordPress and till now has been relying on Blogsmith for its web management.

5. Gizmodo

The ultimate place for gizmo lovers this website is using the same software as of Gawker i.e. Gawker Bespoke Software for its needs of publishing.

P.S. All the above websites are amazing but we always encourage the use of WordPress as it is open source and can be used for any purpose.

Nice article. I found that my website has been selected in the alexa stats among the most famous non wordpress blog. What is strange my website is made with wordpress, although is hosted by a own domain. Anyway my website has been heavily increased.
I’m planning to write new articles, and to create a multimedia team of people who enjoy writing,
or have passion on any kind of art, as videomakers, photographers, musicians etc..
who is interested can have a look at my website, wher can find also my Youtube channel. Cheers

I was certainly thinking about trying out a blog without the help of WordPress but you have certainly made me more confident with that, may be I’ll go ahead with this now, what say?

Well my friend, you may go ahead with non WordPress CMS but you have to tweak and hack a lot on that. The worst it is not that easy as it seems, whereas in WP you can easily add various of the high quality things with a few clicks. The choice is yours, I recommend you to check out at various forums about this.

Well, you’re right this ain’t a taboo topic but you know I use WordPress and am also finding it really nice(don’t mean to say that its the best or others are bad) but still it is good. This was just something I came up to show that there are big things running without WP and a kinda different topic to talk about too. Thats all, but if you want I’ll do come up more like this. :D

An fascinating discussion is price comment. I think that you should write more on this subject, it might not be a taboo topic but typically individuals are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
